A Romantic Valentine’s Day Table

Call me old-fashioned, but I adore Valentine's Day. There is something about this day I cannot resist, and I know love of all kinds should be celebrated every day, but to make the effort to celebrate it on this particular day is something I cherish.

I loved setting up this romantic table for two. Valentine's Day is the perfect day to surprise your loved one (or family, or friends - whomever you may love and care for!) and this setting is a simple example of not needing to go too over the top and crazy to create a little romance. I chose to make the hero of this table the beautiful pink and red roses. By choosing these two colours, I placed a few stems into little milk jars that have been arranged to create the shape of a heart. Sweet and simple, yet oh so effective.

The beautiful colour of the roses match back nicely to the bright red placemats I have chosen from Provincial Home Living. In order to not distract from the centrepiece of the table, I have chosen simple yet elegant plain white tableware and clear glasses.

I love having the opportunity to move our dining table to another area in the house. Eating in a different space makes it almost feel like you're eating out and just adds more excitement to the occasion. Running with a French theme (and, let's face it, many will say that Paris is the most romantic city in the world) I've used Provincial's French bistro-style chairs and fliptop table.

Embrace Valentine's Day and be inspired to create a lasting memory for you and your partner. Honestly, something so simple can make your loved one’s day. To complete the romantic occasion it's always important to set the mood with some background music. In this instance I love playing classic love songs as well as songs that remind me of happy moments spent with my partner. I've put together a list of my favourite love songs, is yours in there?
