NEW SEASON - NEW INTENTIONS…STAYING HEALTHY INSIDE AND OUT IS JUST SOMETHING THAT WE ALL NEED TO THINK ABOUT
How are our diets? Are we watching what we eat? How fit are you? Do you want to be fitter? What do we do to keep our minds active? There are so many things to think about; sometimes it’s easier to put your own needs last but really - if we are not healthy and happy, what are we? Leading a healthy lifestyle is important for everyone, and we should try as hard as we can to maintain it. Feeling good in your skin is what we should all aim for.
One thing that is very on trend at the moment is acai and smoothie bowls. These are a gorgeous looking breakfast or post exercise snack. Topped with a colourful array of nuts, fruits, and edible greens. A smoothie bowl is something we can all start the day off with, its simple, fresh and delicious. Be sure to balance out your bowl with fruit and nuts, as too much fruit can mean too much sugar, so be sure your bowl is balanced.
IT’S A NEW SEASON, SO IT’S TIME FOR SOME NEW SPORTS WEAR!
There is nothing better than slipping on something new to make you feel special, and sports gear is no different. I always find that whether it be a new pair of runners, a bright tank or even some simple leggings, once I put them on I am inspired to get active! And don’t feel as though you have to spend a fortune; have a few keys pieces that are of high quality like some great leggings that you can wear and wash one hundred times over, a great supportive sports bra and a selection of tanks, and you are set to work out!
SHARING HAPPINESS FROM YOUR KITCHEN...
Food is so important in our lives and making a meal for someone can show how much you care for them, the same goes with making special meals for yourself. Self care is a buzz word I am happy to indulge in, and making special healthy meals is a way I can take care of myself.
It isn’t always the eating of the meal that is the cause of this happiness; the planning, shopping and preparation of a meal can be just as rewarding. I love turning on some music and chopping up the vegetables, and yes, I do dance in the kitchen a little more than my family likes but I love it! It relaxes me.
Something as simple as making your grandmother's vanilla cake recipe for your children can bring so much joy. The act is loaded with so much history and is a gesture of love that you can share with your family. Creating traditions and lovely memories will bring a smile to your face for years to come.
Using your surplus of lemon, limes (or whatever you may be lucky enough to grow) make some jams and place them on your neighbour's doorstep or share them amongst your friends.
Try a new recipe. Be it dessert or main, mix up the every day by just having a go. Maybe it’s one of your family members favourite meal, whatever it is - take the time and have fun with it.
Stop hiding the chocolate! I'm the first person to admit I don’t like having sweet temptations in the house, but now and then I have to indulge. It's normal, it’s not the end of the world, and it makes me happy. Everything in moderation right?
Keeping a lovely aromatic pot of herbs in my kitchen makes me smile every time I walk in. The smell, the colour & the ability to pull off basil leaves while I am cooking just makes me feel good.
