Is there anything more satisfying than having a day to yourself for a complete room makeover? I love to spend a few days here and there on my summer holidays to pick a few spaces needing an update. Whether it be updating the downstairs bathroom towel and accessories or giving the spare bedroom a more updated, brighter look, small changes can make a big difference, changing the feel and ambience of your home, aswell as being a fulfilling and satisfying experience. From choosing fabrics and colours to arranging decorative elements, the process allows you to exercise your creativity and design skills, resulting in a space that reflects your tastes.

Decorating your bedroom is an opportunity to express your style and preferences. A feminine, country-inspired theme with flowers, gingham, and embroidery allows you to showcase your personality's softer and more delicate side. Floral patterns bring the beauty of nature indoors, and we all know that flowers in your bedroom can evoke tranquillity and freshness; this, plus gorgeous details such as embroidery, ric-rac edging and pops of gingham, tie the look together. So, if you want to add a touch of whimsy and joy to your bedroom, this new bedding collection from Chyka Home for Harris Scarfe ticks all the boxes.

Excuse me? Did you say too many cushions?

The number of cushions you may want on your bed is largely a matter of personal preference and style. There is no strict rule for the number of cushions, and it can vary based on the size of your bed, the overall aesthetic you're going for, and your comfort preferences. However, here are a few common approaches: Some people prefer a more minimalist look with just a few strategically placed cushions; i’d love to be this person, but alas, I am not! This could mean having two to four pillows, perhaps in matching or coordinating colours, arranged neatly against the headboard. For a more luxurious and layered look, you might consider using a combination of sleeping pillows, Euro shams, and decorative cushions to add depth and texture to your bed. Some enjoy a mix of different shapes, sizes, and patterns for a more eclectic and bohemian style, and this is the approach I take! I like combining standard sleeping pillows, larger Euro shams, and smaller decorative cushions in various patterns. Ultimately, I don’t think you can ever have too many! The ideal number of cushions for your bed depends on your personal taste and the overall aesthetic you want to achieve. It's a good idea to balance creating a visually appealing arrangement and maintaining practicality; consider experimenting with different combinations until you find a setup that suits your style and comfort preferences.
