It’s not often I mix business with pleasure here on Chyka.com, but with all the work that has been going on behind the scenes, I had to share our latest venture with you…
Bar Moubray will have your full attention from the moment you arrive. Dark, sultry and oh-so-sexy, this bar - dining space - event space is one hell of a smooth talker, a vibe maker, and the ultimate in laid-back luxury. With the allure and character typical of the prohibition era of the 1920s, and the details of a modern-day sports club, the bar sits proudly within our heritage-listed bluestone building, Ormond Collective.
Wrapped in rich oak–panelled walls with ornate ceilings, these character finishes add distinctive refine nostalgia to the space. Featuring a central bar and brass finishes, its European features give a traditional feel; with old school tartans lining the wall and leather banquettes to dine in, this vintage clubroom is warm, inviting, and the absolute place to be this Winter in Melbourne.
With a palette of chocolate brown leather, bottle green velvet and the introduction of our very own Moubray checked wallpaper; the styling definitely tilts its hat towards a more refined, old school style of dining. Think candlelit corners, leather booths to slip into and a phone to chat with your neighbouring diners or requests more drinks; this space is the first of its kind in Melbourne. Perfect for all occasions, both dinners and private events, Bar Moubray is a space we are very proud of and can’t wait to welcome everyone.
Stepping through the doors is like travelling back in time. Beautiful dark stained wood, velvet seating and textured houndstooth cover the seats and light fittings. Bar Moubray's interior takes inspiration from a countryside vintage clubroom, a spot to linger after a day on the green or a place to toast friends after a win at the races. It is refined, intimate and sophisticated but always fun, eclectic and alluring, in true Big Group style.
I love the crisp white embroidered napkins and the simplicity of the cut-glass tumblers, finely etched wine glasses and subtle, gold lamplights on all the tables. Golden framed scenes glow against the dark wood, the mix and match of textures - from a houndstooth studded dining chair to the rich, colourful carpeting, the space is thoughtful, curated and exactly how we envisaged it to be.

Winter Games Fest Melbourne's newest event, The Winter Games Festival is your ticket to be transported to the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Watch your favourite events whilst lounging in the Asahi Beer Tent, cheer your team on whilst munching your way through the Food Markets, and of course, pop the champagne and celebrate with the Conservatory's delicious treats. Running from July 23rd until August 8th, this event is one not to miss, so gather your friends and let the games begin!

Mike Snell, our Cabaret star, will be sure to inspire some incredible performances. However, if you require a little liquid courage or a cocktail delight, we have plenty available from our Hall Bar. We know you want to. Take your place centre stage and join the list of music royalty who have performed in the iconic Ormond Hall!
Le Cabaret De Commons Interested in dinner and a show? Cabaret De Commons is set in the majestic Ormond Hall, Cabaret De Commons will take you back in time to a place where Cabaret was King (or Queen)!
