How Are You Celebrating This Mother's Day?

Long lunch? A coffee and a walk? A fancy dinner or perhaps High Tea? Whichever way you choose to celebrate - let's make it memorable. Mother's Day is a significant holiday in many cultures where children and families express love and gratitude for their mothers and mother figures. A table setting is just one way to make the day special (so is trying out new fun recipes for your guests!) and show appreciation for mothers' hard work and dedication in raising their children.

With both my children now living overseas, Mother's Day this year is a little quiet, but I still love the idea of creating a simple table setting for dinner with Mum. Something classic, simple and inviting so we can chat, indulge a little and celebrate the day. As my Creative Gift Ideas for Mother's Day post alluded to - I'm keeping everything simple this year! From gifting to tables, using what I have around me in my collections and adding a little fun here and there, I would love to hear what you think of this table setting.

A quick and easy way to make Mum feel special is to create a little setting on your kitchen bench but make it glamorous. I've blended my Harris Scarfe scallop collection with a terracotta collection I have had at home, and I love the combination. It combines textural terracotta against the smooth china, matching this back in with pink tumblers, napkins, placemats and simple wine glasses. Matching a table setting with the style of your home can help create a cohesive and harmonious look that ties everything together. A well-coordinated table setting can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the dining room and make the space feel more inviting and welcoming; even though I am styling the table on my kitchen bench, I am creating quite a fairly formal set-up in a casual environment, and I love that contrast!

STYLING TIP! By selecting tableware, linens, and decorations that complement your home's style and colour scheme, you can create a cohesive, polished look that reflects your personal taste and style. For instance, if your home has a modern and minimalist style, you may choose a table setting with sleek and simple lines, contemporary dishware, and muted colours. On the other hand, if your home has a more traditional and classic style, you may opt for a more ornate table setting with decorative plates, patterned linens, and elegant silverware. The table setting should complement the room's decor and not clash or look out of place. Matching a table setting with the style of your home can create a visually appealing and inviting atmosphere for your guests and make the dining experience more enjoyable and memorable. It can also showcase your attention to detail and help create a more cohesive and polished look for your home.
