When you think of Easter decorating, what comes to mind? Bunnies? Chocolate? Eggs? All of the above? I know it’s each of those items, but I thought this year, why not mix it and bring some gorgeous, unexpected colour to Easter by inspiration of the humble carrot! Because bunnies eat carrots and bunnies represent Easter, right? (Well, decoratively, they do!?) So let’s add some fun and colour to our celebrations this Easter. Let’s bring a whole lotta brightness and happiness into our home’s. So, where do we start? At the front door, of course!

I am a BIG FAN of the wreath and not just for Christmas. A Wreath can be a perfect tool for gifting, a great way to display cards, and an absolute must for your door come Christmas time and there are just so many creative ways you can jazz up a wreath. I’ve never used one for Easter before so I was keen to really stretch that carrot theme as far as I could. So, I snapped up some faux felted carrots from Spotlight, an embroidery hoop to use as my wreath base and I attached the carrots with florist wire, tie a voluptuous ribbon to the top and hang! For this garden lunch at Ormond Collective - the contrast of the orange and charcoal is just perfection! What do you think?

Not everyone is a fan of Chocolate - hard to believe, I know! But, we all have our differences, so let’s not just rely on the most predictable form of Easter gift-giving this year. One gift I know I love receiving is a beautiful bouquet, and whether it be store-bought or from the garden, your presentation is what will take it to the next level. Dressed in matching orange craft paper and tied together with a felted carrot, these just-about-to-bloom hydrangeas pop inside their bright wrap. So for when you don’t want to give Chocolate - a lovely bunch of garden posies will do the job just fine!

Now, this little project is something that I would have loved as a kid right alongside my collection of chocolate eggs… a DIY Bunny Garden! I loved being out in the garden as a child and have beautiful memories of making fairy gardens with my Grandmother, so why not take this idea and theme it for Easter?

YOU WILL NEED

  • Decorations from your local $2 shop or craft store

  • Herbs for garden elements

  • Potting mix

  • Slice tray from the supermarket

Whether you give this gift already made or as a DIY kit, I know it will create a few hours of creative and imaginary play, and after a morning full of chocolate that may be just what the doctor ordered!
