It’s cold out there, so let’s bring the garden in!

Dainty, romantic, yet beautifully subtle - my new Gardener Collection for Chyka Home through Harris Scarfe has arrived, and I couldn’t be more proud. On a base of soft blue, sweet white florals with their grassy tendrils make the cutest of patterns that match back so well with a basic gingham and flat blue. The Gardiner Collection fits in so well with my existing Harris Scarfe Range - the flowers match back perfectly with the Cotton Check or the White Check Jacquard Quilt Cover Set; the pattern will match back seamlessly with a stripe, a spot or any patterned sheet set or flat block colour you have. It is versatile, inviting and timeless, making this quilt cover set one you will always reach for.

Simple, classic and versatile - White sheets are highly versatile and complement any bedroom decor. They provide a timeless and classic look that can match different colour schemes and styles. Regardless of your bedroom's design or any future changes you make to it, white sheets will always remain a reliable choice, and as much as I love to change it up and mix and match my prints with my patterns, I always go back to a white base. A white sheet set in your linen cupboard is essential for every household. Stains, dirt, or any signs of wear and tear are more easily noticeable on white fabric compared to coloured or patterned sheets. This makes identifying when the sheets need to be washed or replaced easier, promoting good hygiene practices. Finding a matching white sheet is usually more straightforward than matching a specific colour or pattern if you need to replace a damaged or worn-out sheet.

To keep your white sheets clean and maintain their bright appearance, here are some simple tips:

  • Regular Washing: Wash your white sheets regularly, following the care instructions provided by the manufacturer and prevent the buildup of dirt, sweat, oils, and other particles that can cause discolouration.

  • Separate from Colored Items: When washing your white sheets, separate them from coloured items to prevent dye transfer. Wash them separately or with other white or light-coloured fabrics to avoid colour bleeding.

  • Pre-Treat Stains: If you notice any stains on your white sheets - soak them! Pre-treat stains by applying a stain remover or a mixture of detergent and water directly to the affected areas. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before washing as usual.

  • Use a Quality Laundry Detergent: Choose a high-quality laundry detergent suitable for white fabrics. Look for detergents containing whitening agents or formulated explicitly for brightening whites. Follow the recommended amount of detergent based on the load size and water hardness to ensure effective cleaning.

  • Avoid Bleach, if Possible: While Bleach can help remove tough stains and restore whiteness, it's best to avoid using it regularly on your white sheets. Bleach can weaken the fabric fibres over time and cause yellowing or damage. Instead, opt for an oxygen-based bleach or natural alternatives like baking soda or lemon juice for occasional brightening.

  • Dry Sheets Properly: After washing, dry your white sheets according to the care instructions. Choose a low to medium heat setting to avoid excessive shrinkage or damage if using a dryer. Hang them outside in direct sunlight, as the sun's natural bleaching properties can help keep them bright.

  • Store Properly: Store your white sheets in a clean and dry space when not in use. Proper storage helps prevent dust and dirt buildup, keeping your sheets fresh for longer. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for extended periods, which can cause yellowing or discolouration.
