OK, EVERYONE, LET’S DO THIS!

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you would know that I am an optimistic person by nature! Sure, each week seems to get tougher and tougher during these never-ending lockdowns but staying positive has been my goal. My glass is always half full rather than half empty, and I am always on the lookout for that elusive silver lining, so let's do what we can to keep each other motivated throughout this challenging time. Are you with me?

Every morning, I make a mental note of 3 specific things I will do that day to bring me happiness. Anything that will take my mind of the world's happenings and distract me from my thoughts or the news - even if it's for 30 minutes of the day! Having this list gives my day some structure, and it gives me something to look forward to.

Those 3 things don’t have to be huge, sometimes you don’t even have to leave the house, they can be as simple as you like. My lists over the past few weeks have included…

  • Discovering a new walking path to explore with Otto

  • Picking wildflowers on a local bush trail

  • Finishing my new book on the couch, with a cup of tea in my hand

  • Wearing my favourite bright colour

  • Calling friends rather than texting them

  • Starting a new watercolour painting

  • Planting the winter veggie patch

I have found that by committing to only 3 small things a day, I can get them done; it is achievable. Long lists of cupboards I could clean out became boring; reorganising my wardrobe for Spring seems just too hard right now - but walking the dog and collecting twigs for an afternoon fire - that I can do today! And once it’s done, I can feel as though I have achieved something for the day. It may not be huge, but it’s something. And right now, when we are all struggling - achieving one small thing is something to feel proud of.

So, if you need a little motivation to get through the day - why not join in with me? Pick 3 achievable things a day and work hard at checking them off to create a little window of happiness for yourself. Share the templates on your socials to inspire YOUR FRIENDS to do the same, let’s motivate and inspire each other through this lockdown any way we can.
